If you know me then you would know I love being behind the lens and like playing around with different and original angles when filming skating. Here is a rare photo of my filming. Cameraception.

About me

My name is Jordan Torres, I am 17 years old and live in manor park, east London. I am the third child out of three, which means I am the youngest, in my opinion it’s a positive, I have my older siblings to look after me. I was born in London, Newham general.  We moved when I was 10 years old to a different area because there was lots of trouble in our neighbourhood. That’s when I started skateboarding and found new friends that influenced me in a positive way. Ever since I was 9 years old I have been surrounded by cameras because my brother was into filming dance videos.

When all of my friends got good at skating I decided I wanted to document the progress of them and make short funny videos about our travels. Last year we kept talking about leaving London and skating new places, such as Paris, Copenhagen and New York. Well this year we have been to two of the three; Copenhagen and Paris. We did this on a minimal budget too, we stayed at our friend’s cousins flat, which made the trip possible. The flat was in the centre of Paris so getting around was very easy for us. The metro system is very clear and easy to follow and luckily some of us knew how to speak French. We were there for 7 days, our first holiday away from our parents, before I left my mum said “the only reason I am letting you go is because I want to let you see how it is to be an independent young adult”. Going there made me closer to a few friend and distance away from a few too. It was a good experience to have before returning to college.

So as you probably know, my hobbies are, skateboarding, making skate videos and photography. Most of my work is stored on a personal blog I made a couple years ago so when I am older I will be able to look back and see how far I have come. When I am not doing those things I spend time with my mum, she used to always nurse and be there for my older sister, but my sister passed away leaving my mum with not much to do, this has made me appreciate what we have. Also made me want to further my education in media and see how the industry works from inside out; so one day I can start my own company.

However, sometimes I've had a hard time since there are a lot of challenges as well. But even so, I've tried to look in a positive side, because I know dealing with human isn't an easy thing. In order to improve my work performance and myself, I believe there are still many things I have to learn, and need to strive for having a better life in the future.
